From inspection to final assembly
Inside the Remanufacturing Process
Fraser’s remanufacturing process brings together casting inspection, cleaning, machining, renewed wear components, and final checks. The cleaning and repair methods depend on the casting material and the requirements of the individual build.
01. Disassemble & Inspect
The process begins with disassembly and inspection of the block and components. Castings are evaluated for damage, and passages are opened for cleaning.
02. Clean the Castings
Material-appropriate thermal cleaning, shot blasting, washing, and ultrasonic cleaning remove contamination so surfaces and internal passages can be inspected.
03. Check Casting Integrity
Castings undergo the appropriate defect checks, including magnetic particle inspection for ferrous parts and pressure testing where required.
04. Prepare & Machine
Threads, surfaces, and bores are prepared for the build. Machining and honing establish the required dimensions and surface finish for assembly.
05. Recondition & Reclean
Connecting rods and rotating components are inspected and reconditioned as required. Parts are cleaned again after machining to prepare them for assembly.
06. Assemble & Inspect
Assemblers check dimensions and install the listed components, gaskets, and seals. The rotating assembly is balanced and tested, followed by final inspection.
