4.3L Vortec vs. 4.3L EcoTec3 Engines
The Chevy 4.3L V6 name spans different generations of truck and van engines. The older Vortec and newer EcoTec3 share a displacement label, but their fuel delivery, controls, and assembly requirements differ. Matching the engine generation is the first step toward a successful replacement.
Older 4.3L Vortec Long Blocks
The Vortec family served full-size pickups, compact trucks, SUVs, and work vans. A remanufactured Vortec long block renews the engine’s internal assembly while allowing your installer to plan the necessary external components for the vehicle.
Newer 4.3L EcoTec3 / LV3
The LV3 pickup engine uses direct injection, variable valve timing, and Active Fuel Management. The replacement must match the vehicle’s electronics and mechanical configuration. Modern LV1 van engines require a separate application check.

Which option do I choose for a 2014 vehicle?
A 2014 Silverado 1500 or Sierra 1500 with the factory 4.3L V6 uses the newer EcoTec3 family. Selected 2014 Express/Savana 1500 vans retain the older Vortec family. Choose by vehicle and engine identification, then have Fraser verify your full VIN.
Are the LV3 pickup engine and LV1 van engine the same?
LV3 and LV1 identify different applications. Modern 4.3L Express and Savana vans use the LV1 configuration, while the EcoTec3 pickup application uses LV3. Fraser must confirm the van build separately before quoting or supplying an assembly under the modern engine option.
Does the 2014–2022 button mean every pickup in those years fits?
No. It is a shopping group for selected modern 4.3L applications. U.S. 4.3L LV3 Silverado/Sierra pickup applications generally run 2014–2021; later van applications use LV1. Provide your VIN for the exact assembly and price.
